Heraldry Update: We’re Trying Again

The second draft of my heraldic arms submission

I got an update on this recently so I figured I'd make a quick post. My first device was rejected, unfortunately (but predictably) because the annulets and the bordure did not have sufficient contrast (metal on metal). I sort of saw that coming so it's not overly crushing.

I sat down and tried different colors on the annulets and just didn't love any of them, so back to the drawing board, literally. My first option just moved the annulets off the bordure and onto the field, but that looked too busy. My second option was to leave the annulets off the bordure and instead make the rose gold, but that had conflicts with another design. And then it clicked- instead of ermine, try erminois. Thankfully, this follows the rule of tincture, and thanks to my incredibly patient local herald, looks to be free of conflict!

The new design is really growing on me. The erminois bordure is really evocative of Ponte Alto colors, and that's really special to me. I may not stay in Ponte Alto my whole SCA life, but in the last few years, this barony has done so much to help me grow into the SCAdian I am today. I will forever owe Ponte Alto a huge part of my personal SCA identity so being able to keep that in my arms no matter where I go is really special to me.

So take two, and I will update when I know more: vert, a rose argent within a bordure invested erminois. If this goes well, I had a lovely idea for a badge that will coordinate!
